Rutland Online, Eco Web Hosting and Aveland Trees got together on 27 November to plant 270 native British trees to do their bit for the Big Climate Fightback.
Rutland based website design business Rutland Online’s owner Liz England is a passionate conservationist, and she and husband Phil are transforming their two acre field into a wildlife haven. Keen to embed environmental values into her business as well as personal life, Liz selected Eco Web Hosting to host her own and her clients’ websites.
Already committed to tree planting to offset their carbon usage, when Nottingham based Eco Web Hosting ran out of space in Ransom Wood Business Park, Nottingham, Liz stepped in to offer them her Rutland field to continue their project. Liz also introduced Eco Web Hosting to Aveland Trees, a tree nursery located near Bourne that specialises in growing native British trees from locally gathered seeds.
Liz says “This three way partnership is an ideal way for us all to contribute to the fight against climate change. I provide space for the trees and ongoing maintenance, Eco Web Hosting funds the project and Aveland Trees grows and plants the trees.
We’re all looking forward to seeing our trees grow, and I’m especially excited about the wildlife the new trees will attract.”
Liz believes this model could be attractive to other businesses that want to embed environmental values into their CSR policy. “I’ve had friends with small parcels of land tell me they’d love to plant more trees.
